How to Make French Press Coffee
For those who don’t want to invest in equipment, or who simply prefer the taste of steeped coffee, French press coffee is a great option and takes less than 10 minutes. Here's how to use a French press at home so you can brew a small batch of coffee with no appliance or filter.
LET'S MAKE IT
What You’ll Need:
- Liquid Measuring Cup
- Measuring Spoon
- 6 Tablespoons Medium-Coarse Folgers® Coffee Grounds
- 3½ Cups Distilled or Filtered Water
- Hot Water Kettle
- Thermometer
- French Press Coffee Maker
Brew Time: 7 Minutes
1. MEASURE & HEAT
Add 6 tablespoons of medium-coarse Folgers® coffee grounds to your French press coffee maker. Separately, heat 3½ cups of water to about 200°F.
2. PRE-WET
Slowly add 1½ cups of the hot water to your French press, wetting all the grounds. Let them sit for one minute to bloom. Then gently stir.
3. STEEP
Slowly add another 2 cups of hot water until the waterline is level with the silver rim on the French press. Put the lid in place, but don’t press down. Wait 6 minutes.
4. PRESS
Slowly press the plunger down until it’s fully depressed. Then serve and enjoy.
